IT GLOSSARY


A text format that allows for links from keywords in a document to other sections of the document or to other documents.


The field of work dealing with computers and technology, or more specifically, the organization within a company that takes care of all of the computers, telephones, webservers, and Internet connectivity that keeps a company able to communicate with the outside world by electronic means.


A method of storing graphic images. It was specifically made for storing images with more than 256 colors in a small file size. JPEG files use lossy compression. JPEG files use the extension “.jpg.”


A postage stamp-sized Flash memory card that allows data to be saved onto it. MMC cards are a means of exchanging data between PDAs, phones, digital cameras, and other devices, but they can also serve the function of acting similar to a hard drive on a PC for the storage of data and programs.
